The time of enticing mermaids carrying away sailors into the ocean’s depths with their singing has ended.
Along with mentalities and superstitions, these mythological characters have evolved too. Mermaids have become the symbol of aquatic life and genetic mutation.
Artist and scientist are both looking for new “form of life”.
By this work, I wanted to express aquaculture through mermaids.
From the DNA helix is born the fusion of aquaculture and genetics. This woman and this man are in complete symbio sis, tending together to the top, the new, and the best.
The XV International Symposium on Genetics in Aquaculture (ISGA XV) is the world’s leading event dedicated to genetics and genomics in aquaculture. This prestigious symposium gathers the most recent knowledge, the forefront of scientific research and cutting-edge genomic technologies through oral presentations, poster sessions, and technical activities related to local practices in aquaculture.
